Train Driver
Job Purpose
To carry out train driving, train preparation and shunting duties in line with DRS business requirements and services
Principal Accountabilities

1. To safely & punctually operate train services as required supporting DRS customer and company
requirements;
• Conform to GE/RT8000 and all other associated documentation.
• Comply with all company procedures.
• Meet assessment criteria.
• Work in a safe and correct manner.
• Fill in any documentation as required (i.e. reports).
• Ensure full compliance with the DRS Competency Management System (CMS)
2. To perform Train Person duties as and when required;
• Conform to GE/RT8000 and all other associated documentation.
• Comply with all company procedures.
• Meet assessment criteria.
• Carry all required equipment/PPE.
• Arrive at work at the correct time.
• Work in a safe and correct manner.
• Enable all documentation filled in and issued to applicable trains.
3. To perform Traffic Examination duties & Shunting activities on relevant rail vehicles;
• Ensure Traffic Examination checks are carried out when required.
• Manage competency to ensure refresher checks can be arranged prior to required date.
4. To develop, maintain and retain route and traction knowledge as directed by relevant Regional
Operation Development Manager and Operations Manager in order to support DRS Operation
requirement;
• Monitor routes and traction to ensure competency maintained.
• Conform to route knowledge request procedure.
5. To observe and acknowledge all publications and notices in line with the CMS;
• Ensure full compliance with the CMS requirements.
• Ensure all publications are up to date.
• Sign for all applicable notices.
• Make amendments to publications when issued.
• Carry relevant notices when at work, or ass issued on company systems.
• Check notice cases, where applicable
6. To undertake all training deemed necessary by DRS;
• Attend all courses requested by DRS in line with your duties.
• Actively be involved in any exercises as requested.
7. To conform to the company’s safety policies to assist in the achievement of company objectives
and targets;
• Attend safety days.
• Submit any hazard/log accident book documentation promptly.
• Be responsible for personal PPE.
8. To comply with the company’s security requirements;
• Be aware of all relevant risk assessments.
• Carry correct ID/P4 on relevant site at all times.
• Be aware of security threat level.
• Not disclose any information of a sensitive nature.
• Report security incidents promptly following correct procedure.
• Obtain and retain SC level security clearance.
9. Drive road vehicles as required in line with your duties;
• Ensure compliance with company handbook.
• Ensure compliance with speed limits and adjust driving according to weather conditions.

Knowledge • Knowledge of Rail Industry
• Basic understanding of DRS Business.
• Specific knowledge of Safety Critical working practices.
Skills • Ability to obtain and maintain Personal Track Safety and rules and
regulations competency.
• Ability to obtain and maintain traction and route knowledge.
• Holds a full clean UK driving licence.
• Be medically fit to GO/RT3251 Group Standard including drugs and
alcohol testing.
• Willing and able to travel
