We are looking for a Mechanical Senior System Engineer to join the team. Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations and research sites. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at a hydroelectric plant. This role is the perfect opportunity for you to be part of our challenging mission - to safely and successfully manage the UKβs civil nuclear legacy on behalf of the nation.
Our Systems Engineering team is made up of highly skilled engineers across a range of disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, C&I) with the responsibility of maintaining the site's plant systems including the siteβs infrastructure. They provide a focal point of engineering expertise and ownership for assigned plant systems and assets with nuclear, radiological, environmental, and business significance.
Key Deliverables
- Provide the focal point and technical ownership for a portfolio of assigned systems.
- Maintain an engineering strategy for the assigned systems to deliver long term health and recommend improvement measures where required.
- Carry out and record routine system walk downs.
- Record, trend and analyse system performance monitoring data as appropriate and take the necessary corrective actions.
- Specify the necessary periodic maintenance routines and spares holdings.
- Be familiar with the safety case as it applies to the assigned systems and know the functional requirements, key limits, and conditions for safe operation.
- Produce and/or approve relevant documentation for assigned systems such as Technical Specifications and maintenance instructions.
- Produce and Manage modification proposals.
- Act as a consultant for projects undertaken on assigned system providing proactive technical support and ensuring smooth handovers to and from projects.
- Work flexibly within the team and support and mentor other System Engineers and trainees.
- Carry out timely investigation of events and review on-site and off-site events via the Operational Experience Feedback process.
- Undertake emergency scheme duties when required.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum HNC in engineering or equivalent level (NQF level 5) engineering qualification, preferably a relevant engineering degree (NQF level 6).
- Experience in a practising disciplined Engineering role (Mechanical) on industrial plant.
- Nuclear and/or conventional plant operation, engineering or maintenance experience.
Desirable:
- Membership of a relevant Engineering Institute (Incorporated Status).
- Chartered Status.
