Are you ready to play a key role in managing and improving one of the most important environmental functions on site? We’re looking for a motivated and curious Waste Inventory Specialist to join the Site Services, Waste Area team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the site’s waste inventory programme and near‑term waste forecasting, including inventory and forecasting tools, strengthen compliance with waste legislation, and help drive the strategies that shape how waste is managed today, and in the future.
What Will You Be Doing
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our waste management strategy, responsible for the completion of inventory walk downs, analysing valuable inventory and forecast data, and producing high quality reports that support regulatory compliance and site decision‑making. You’ll work closely with internal teams, industry experts, and key regulators such as SEPA and ONR, contributing to effective waste characterisation and the ongoing development of the Dounreay Waste Inventory tool. Your insight will help ensure our inventory and forecasting processes and documentation are accurate, safe, and aligned with both site strategy and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality waste inventory activities including annual predictive walkdowns, tracking site’s annual waste performance, data modelling, characterisation support, and production of documentation required by site, client, and regulators.
- Collaborate with internal customers, external stakeholders, and regulators while helping drive continuous improvements to waste processes and the Waste Inventory tool.
What You Will Bring
You will have an HND in a science or engineering discipline, or an equivalent qualification with relevant experience, combined with demonstrable experience in waste or a closely related field. Your strengths lie in your analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to interpret and model complex datasets. You are confident working with diverse teams, proactive in problem‑solving, and motivated by contributing to safe, compliant, and efficient waste management practices across the site.
Key attributes are:
- Advanced capability with spreadsheeting, including lookups, pivot tables and advanced formulas.
- Experience with data presentation software such as PowerBI is preferred.
- Desired experience within the field of Quantity Surveying.
We are looking to hold interviews week commencing Monday 29 June 2026, however, please note that this vacancy may close earlier than the stated deadline should we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
