A vacancy has arisen within the fuel cycle area (FCA) programme for a Safety Case Writer to support the ongoing decommissioning programme. As a Safety Case Writer, you will be responsible for producing proportionate, fit for purpose nuclear safety cases, in accordance with organisational procedures.

This opportunity represents a chance to join a growing team providing safety case advice in support of some of the most challenging projects on-site. The role would suit an individual with experience in safety case production and interest in supporting a broad portfolio of facilities and projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Inform and advise on the production of nuclear safety cases
  • Engage with stakeholders
  • Apply hazard identification techniques
  • Develop clear and concise arguments and technical content to form a ‘fit for purpose’ safety case
  • Produce and verify evidence in support of nuclear safety cases
  • Produce nuclear safety risk assessments
  • Identify engineering and administrative controls
  • Support due process requirements
  • Assist in establishing the scope of and strategy for the production of nuclear safety cases
  • Assist in planning and co-ordinating the preparation of nuclear safety cases
  • Produce fit for purpose safety cases in accordance with organisational procedures, to time and budget
Aptitudes And Experience
  • Qualified to degree level in an appropriate discipline or equivalent qualification plus experience
  • Demonstrable experience in safety case production, hazard and risk assessment, and plant and industrial
  • Have the knowledge, skills and experience required to prepare and develop safety cases
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate documentation
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Post specific capability analysis assessment
