"We are seeking a capable and motivated individual, who is committed to developing a career in the nuclear safety case field, to join a small central team of Nuclear Safety Case professionals within the Waste Programme. The purpose of this role is to deliver nuclear safety cases and associated documentation supporting the installation of plant and equipment to retrieve, package and store nuclear waste materials located at our decommissioning sites. To achieve this, the central team works closely with project teams, site-based staff and central technical functions. The team operates from the NRS Hub (Bristol), combined with optional flexible/home working (note: this is not a fully remote position). Occasional travel to NRS sites and other locations, for example to view plant layouts, is an essential part of this role."

Key Deliverables

  • Prepare Nuclear Safety Cases in accordance with Company Standards.

  • Prepare supporting safety case documents such as fault grouping reports, safety case strategy statements and radiological dose assessments.

  • Provide Safety Case advice and guidance to colleagues.

  • Manage the production of deliverables being provided by others as input to the Safety Case.

  • Provide supporting information in interactions with internal and external stakeholders including Regulators., * Participation in Company Bonus Scheme (up to £5,750 per annum based on corporate objectives).

  • A degree in a suitable technical subject, e.g. mechanical engineering / physics or National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 6.

  • Experience of working within a highly regulated industry.

  • Demonstrable ability to assemble, present and communicate safety arguments in a clear, accurate, well-structured manner.

  • Ability to exercise good engineering judgement within technical field of knowledge.

  • Understanding of engineering safety and the derivation of Safety Functional Requirements.

  • Knowledge of hazard identification and analysis techniques.

  • Adaptable and able to work on a variety of different projects within the Waste Programme.
