Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations and research sites. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at a hydroelectric plant. This role is part of our mission to safely manage the UK’s civil nuclear legacy.
About the role:
You would be joining a team responsible for Radiological Protection and Environment at the Hinkley Point A Site in Somerset. We offer this development opportunity to become part of a multi-skilled, experienced team within a rewarding industry which supports personal and professional development.
Key Deliverables:
- Carry out radiological protection monitoring and related tasks.
- Conduct radiological compliance surveys.
- Undertake radiological surveys in support of work under radiological control documents.
- Establish radiological controlled areas prior to the commencement of work.
- Carry out routine performance checks on radiological protection instruments.
- Issue advice to a Competent Person regarding radiological conditions.
- Collect samples and carry out radiological surveys for waste clearance.
- Support the Accredited Health Physicist and Senior Authorised Person in identifying radiological hazards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educated to NQF level 2/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience.
- NVQ Level 3 Health Physics (essential).
- Practical experience in a relevant industry (essential).
- Knowledge of site arrangements for IRR and RSA compliance (desirable).
