Project Supervisor

Project Supervisor

Full-Time On-site
N

Are you an experienced supervisor who puts safety at the heart of everything you do? We’re looking for Project Supervisors to join our Shaft & Silo Programme, playing a pivotal role in the safe and efficient delivery of important enabling works.

Working as part of a skilled network of supervisory professionals and reporting to the Construction Site Manager, you’ll collaborate with Project Management, Operations, contractors, Works Control and specialist teams. This is an opportunity to be at the centre of project delivery, using your leadership, judgement and site experience to ensure work is completed safely, effectively and to the required standards.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll provide visible, hands-on supervision of physical works, ensuring activities are properly planned, controlled and delivered by competent personnel. You’ll build effective relationships across project teams and contractors, maintaining high standards of safety, security and environmental compliance while helping keep projects moving safely and efficiently.

  • Manage safe delivery on site, ensuring work remains within the required safety operating envelope, safe systems of work and Works Control requirements, taking action or initiating STOP procedures where necessary.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and work teams, monitoring performance, competency and activities while working closely with internal teams and specialist advisers to support successful delivery.
  • Plan, review and improve work activities, contributing to work scope and hazard reviews, schedules, reporting and safe systems of work while implementing relevant changes to processes and legislation.
  • Support projects from delivery through to handover, responding to and investigating abnormal conditions, contributing to handover documentation, participating in emergency arrangements and undertaking relevant Management Authorisations

What you’ll bring

You’ll be a confident and safety-conscious supervisor with experience gained within a construction site or industrial environment. Organised, adaptable and comfortable coordinating people and priorities, you’ll bring a positive approach and the confidence to challenge or stop work when something isn’t right. Just as importantly, you’ll be able to build strong working relationships and contribute to a respectful, collaborative environment.

  • Supervisory experience, such as Team Leader or Chargehand experience, with responsibility for coordinating people and work activities, alongside strong organisational and planning skills.
  • A strong understanding of workplace safety and ideally experience of work control, safe systems of work and supervising contracted works. SSSTS or an equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Relevant technical or site experience could include civil, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation, construction/demolition, lifting operations, radiological work or waste processes. A CSCS Gold Card would also be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to change, work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and create an environment where colleagues feel respected and included.
  • Post specific physical capability analysis assessment

If you’re an experienced supervisor who takes pride in delivering work safely, responsibly and effectively, this could be an excellent opportunity to bring your skills to a challenging and important programme.

We are looking to hold interviews week commencing Monday 09 November 2026, however, please note that this vacancy may close earlier than the stated deadline should we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

If you require assistance at any point during the recruitment process contact careers@dounreay.nrservices.uk at the appropriate time so we can make any necessary, reasonable adjustment.
