"Chapelcross is a nuclear site that finished generating power in 2004 and is currently in the decommissioning phase. The Ponds facility has various projects underway that aim to decommission the facility in a safe and timely manner."
We currently have a vacancy for a Pond Operator to join our team to continue with the varied decommissioning and operational work planned in for the next several years.
Key Deliverables:

Working in the Ponds team Operations Section.

Supporting the recovery and processing of various packages but currently Zeolite skips retrievals.

Carrying out routine testing and functional checks of plant and equipment.

General operational tasks.

Ability to use or be willing to train to use fork lift trucks, overhead crane etc.

Record keeping and following instructions.

Attention to detail.
-
3 GCSE’s (Grade C or above) or equivalent in Maths and English or 2 GCSEs as above with work related experience (essential).

For internal candidate’s suitable relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications where appropriate.

Relevant experience in nuclear industry in an industrial operational environment is desirable but not essential.

The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.
