Nuclear Restoration Services Ltd (NRS) is seeking a Day Production Assistant to join the operations team at Maentwrog Hydroelectric Power Station, a historic and operational hydro site set within the Snowdonia National Park. This role is hands-on, outdoors, site-based and supports the safe operation and maintenance of the power station, its pipelines, and the surrounding reservoir catchment area. The position is for someone who enjoys practical work, working outdoors, and being part of a small, close-knit team responsible for maintaining critical infrastructure in a unique environment.

This is a chance to be part of a professional Operations Team where your expertise, judgement and commitment help underpin safe, reliable and compliant site activities. If you thrive in structured environments and value high standards, this role may be exactly what you’re looking for.

What will you be doing?

  • Maintaining the reservoir catchment area – tree cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, and general grounds and access maintenance.
  • Carrying out reservoir inspections and readings.
  • Supporting pipeline maintenance and inspections.
  • Maintaining and inspecting leats, weirs, and associated watercourses.
  • Assisting with general power station and site maintenance tasks.
  • Supporting outages, inspections, and planned works as required.
  • Working in accordance with site safety rules, procedures, and permits.
  • Supporting the site emergency scheme, following training.

All work is undertaken with full regard to health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements. This role works Monday to Thursday, with hours from 07:30 to 17:15 – a 4-day working week. Overtime will be expected at times to support operational needs.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a practical, hands-on individual who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. You’ll be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, confident operating safely in industrial or outdoor environments, and hold a strong awareness of health and safety at all times. You’ll thrive whether working safely as part of a small, close-knit team or independently, managing your own time and taking pride in doing the job right.

You will be:

  • Reliable, conscientious and safety focused.
  • Flexible, eager to learn, and keen to develop new skills as the role evolves.
  • Comfortable working at height and within confined spaces, always following safe systems of work.
  • Skilled in literacy and numeracy with a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Holding a full UK driving licence and a positive, proactive attitude.

It would be advantageous to have experience in grounds maintenance, forestry, land management, utilities, or industrial maintenance (LANTRA, NPTC or equivalent), familiarity with working around watercourses, pipelines, or reservoirs, previous experience on operational or industrial sites, and basic IT skills for recording inspections and data. Full training will be provided, including site-specific safety and operational training.

Training and Development

Full site induction and mandatory training with ongoing competence-based training aligned with NRS requirements. Opportunities to develop new skills and extend competence over time. First Aid training and the chance to join Site First Aiders and the Height Rescue Team.
