Ready to put your electrical skills to work in a role where no two shifts are the same? Are you a hands‑on electrician who enjoys fault finding, keeping critical equipment running, and being part of a team that tackles real challenges every day? If you're looking for a role that offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to work on complex industrial systems, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
We're looking for a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our shift team. Working in a safety‑focused environment, you'll play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and improving electrical systems that support important operational activities. From planned maintenance to responding to breakdowns, you'll be at the heart of keeping plant and equipment operating safely and efficiently.
What You Will Be Doing
- Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance to keep plant, equipment, and essential systems running safely and reliably.
- Diagnosing faults, responding to breakdowns, and working closely with operations teams to minimise downtime and restore equipment quickly.
- Completing electrical installation work in line with current IET Wiring Regulations, as well as supporting improvement projects across the facility.
- Ensuring high standards of safety, record keeping, contractor oversight, shift handovers, and compliance with site procedures and industry regulations.
Who We Are Looking For
We're looking for a practical, safety‑conscious electrician who enjoys getting stuck in and solving problems. You'll have strong experience in electrical maintenance, installation work, and fault finding, along with a solid understanding of electrical systems and the regulations that govern them. You'll be comfortable working as part of a shift team, taking ownership of your work, and operating in an environment where safety always comes first.
To succeed in this role, you'll need.
- Current knowledge of the latest 18th Edition BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations and experience of electrical maintenance, distribution systems, and installation requirements.
- Experience working with instrumentation, inverters, control systems, and electrical safety procedures is important, as is the ability to wear specialist PPE and work within controlled environments where radiation, EMF, and other site‑specific requirements may apply.
Desirable experience and qualifications include:
- A completed electrical apprenticeship and recognised technical qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of PLCs and programmable equipment and ventilation systems with the ability to support fault finding and system improvements.
- IOSH Working Safely qualification or a strong understanding of safe working practices in industrial environments.
- Experience carrying out maintenance activities within a nuclear, engineering, manufacturing, process, or similarly regulated industry.
Why Join Us?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly skilled team working on complex equipment in a unique operational environment. You'll gain valuable experience, develop specialist skills, and play a key part in maintaining systems that really matter. If you take pride in delivering quality work, enjoy solving technical challenges, and want a career where your expertise is genuinely valued, we'd love to hear from you. Please note this role also comes with a shift allowance.
All successful candidates will need to provide proof of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment/education history (typically covering the last 3-5 years) in line with NRS Baseline Security requirements.
Some roles may also require full Security Clearance, which involves additional checks. For details, please refer to the Defence Business Services National Security Vetting (DBS NSV) guidance.
