About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Internal Communications Business Partner to join a high-performing Internal Communications team. This is a highly visible, stakeholder-focused position operating at Communications Manager/Senior Business Partner level. Working closely with executive leaders, particularly within the CIO organisation, you will provide strategic communications counsel, shape business communications, and ensure colleagues receive clear, engaging and impactful messaging.
This is not a delivery-only communications role. You will be expected to influence business discussions, contribute to leadership planning, and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, helping drive engagement across major business priorities and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior business leaders, acting as the Internal Communications Business Partner for designated directorates.
- Develop and deliver strategic internal communications plans that align with organisational priorities and business objectives.
- Provide expert communications advice and coaching to Directors, Executive leaders and senior stakeholders.
- Influence communication planning at leadership level, ensuring communications are embedded into business planning and decision-making.
- Attend leadership meetings, providing strategic communications input and identifying opportunities to improve engagement.
- Lead the planning and execution of internal communications activity, managing tactical delivery through Internal Communications Advisors where appropriate.
- Develop high-quality communications across a range of channels, including executive messaging, Intranet content, newsletters, presentations, videos and employee campaigns.
- Lead communications planning for business events, leadership forums, town halls, conferences and employee engagement activities.
- Build strong relationships across Corporate Affairs, HR, Digital, Technology and wider business functions to ensure joined-up communications.
- Support communications relating to technology, digital and business transformation initiatives, ensuring colleagues understand change and its impact.
- Use employee insight, engagement data and feedback to continually improve communication effectiveness.
- Identify communication risks and provide strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with external agencies where required.
Key skills and experience:
This role requires someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery while building trusted relationships across leadership teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in Internal Communications within a large or complex organisation (essential).
- Proven experience operating as an Internal Communications Business Partner, Senior Communications Manager, or Communications Lead.
- Demonstrated success advising Directors, Executive teams or C-suite stakeholders on internal communications strategy.
- Experience influencing senior decision-makers and confidently providing constructive challenge where required.
- Strong strategic communications planning skills with the ability to align communications to wider business objectives.
- Experience attending leadership meetings and contributing to strategic business discussions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility quickly across senior leadership teams.
- Outstanding writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information into engaging employee communications.
- Experience delivering communications across multiple channels including Intranet, email, presentations, leadership briefings and employee events.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience measuring communication effectiveness and using insight to improve engagement.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting one or more of the following would be highly advantageous: Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Technology Officer (CTO) functions.
- Technology, Digital or IT organisations.
- Enterprise technology programmes.
- Digital transformation initiatives.
- Organisational change or business transformation programmes.
- Technical expertise is not required; however, experience supporting technology leaders and communicating complex transformation programmes is highly desirable.
