We are in an exciting phase of growth and are seeking a Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about designing, selecting, and commissioning key process equipment and structural components to bring carbon capture projects from concept to field deployment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and improvement of carbon capture plants.
- Execute end-to-end mechanical design, analysis, fabrication and assembly of static equipment and structures.
- 3D/2D modelling and detailing for mechanical systems; including equipment, internals, and structural components.
- Interface with Process, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines to ensure integrated equipment, layout design and cost optimisation.
- Comprehensive ownership and execution of mechanical packages; including Pressure Vessel Packages, Heat Exchanger Systems, piping systems, Plant Mechanical Equipment Packages (including rotating) and Structural Packages.
- Develop technical documentation and technical deliverables (i.e. Material Datasheets and Material Requisitions).
- Review, comment and evaluate design packages from vendors and subcontractors.
- Contribute to Process Hazard Analysis and HAZOP studies.
- Support commissioning, Factory Acceptance Tests, and start-up procedures for carbon capture systems.
- Reporting to Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
- B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of relevant design experience with complex mechanical systems.
- Proficient in 3D/2D modelling and detailing for mechanical systems.
- Experience in end-to-end mechanical design, analysis, fabrication and assembly of static equipment and structures.
- Mastery of AutoCAD / SolidWorks / /Navis work software.
- Expertise in Piping Stress Analysis – Using Caesar II (as per ASME B31.3).
- Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for Mechanical Design – Using ANSYS or equivalent.
- Experience in preparing Material Datasheets, Material Requisitions, and Technical Bid Evaluations.
- Proven experience in pressure vessel and static equipment design.
- Strong focus on layout/cost optimization, design for manufacturability and modularization is highly desirable.
- Expertise in design validation, part sourcing, and product iteration is highly desirable.
- Experience in RFQ preparation, managing resolution of client review comments, deviation requests, and site technical queries (TQ/SQ) is highly desirable.
- Comfortable in entrepreneurial environments, flexible, and communicative.
- Manage /schedule daily and project activities to meet target.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Inventor / PV Elite / STAAD. Pro will be advantageous.
