Contract: Permanent
Full time: 37.5 hours per week (including some weekend work).
Main Duties of the Job
- Providing day-to-day supervision of Catering Assistants.
- Ensuring the quality of the catering service.
- Ensuring procedures are followed, including food safety checks, risk assessments, and completing all necessary records.
- Producing staff rotas and arranging cover when needed.
- Undertaking cashier duties during service times and taking responsibility for cash handling and security – holding and reconciling floats, including vending income.
- Visiting wards regularly to assess food waste and carrying out kitchen inspections.
- Speaking with service users and wards about food service.
- Proposing changes to improve service.
- Reporting faults and repairs for client and company equipment and building issues.
- Recruiting new starters and training and supporting them as they start work.
Person Specification
Experience
- Experience of different types of food service.
- Experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience with cashier duties and operating a till.
Education & Qualifications
- Recognised catering qualifications such as NVQ Level 1 & 2.
- NVQ Level 3 supervisory qualification or equivalent.
Skills & Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of food preparation and food service.
- In-depth knowledge of hygiene and health & safety legislation, including COSHH.
- Able to meet the mobility requirements of the role.
Compensation
Band B (£14.64 per hour). There is potential to earn more with enhancements for weekend work and on-call duties.
