Join us as a Catering Assistant! We are recruiting to the Team at St Nicholas Hospital to work within our friendly Catering Department. This post is offered at 33.75 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday and alternate Saturdays, with shift patterns between 6am - 6pm.
Main duties of the job:
- Basic food preparation, packing and cleaning duties within a chilled environment.
- Manual handling duties including accepting and putting deliveries away, collecting items to prep & pack within a walk-in freezer and chilled environment.
- Regeneration of patients' food in a ward environment.

Person specification:
- An ability to communicate well with others such as colleagues, clinical staff, or patients.
- Able to work well as part of a team but also to work unsupervised.
- Ability to adhere to standards and procedures and to accept and prioritise instructions.
- Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety (training will be given).
Experience:
- Any previous service industry experience is desirable (but we will train you fully if you don’t have any experience).
- Previous experience of stock control.
Qualifications:
- No formal qualifications are required, but a certificate in hygiene is desirable.
- You will be trained in food hygiene and health and safety as part of the role.
New starters who are not in the NHS Pension already will be enrolled into a NEST pension. Recruitment into NTW Solutions Limited will follow the principles of NHS Employer Check Standards and any relevant employment legislation. Various posts are subject to DBS clearance prior to commencement.
