We are recruiting Domestic Assistants to join our team at Carleton Clinic, Cumbria. This post will be offered at Part Time, 17.5 hours per week on a rolling rota to cover a 7-day service. Our team of Domestic Assistants keeps wards and buildings clean and tidy and provides a great service to patients, visitors, and staff. You could be cleaning a hospital ward, patient bedroom or office areas and corridors. Because we provide services to the NHS, your work supports better patient care. It is important work and you will need to take pride in what you do and complete tasks to a high standard. If you are in a community building you will be working alongside patients who have mental health illness, learning disabilities, or brain injuries. You could be cleaning their rooms and the shared areas on the ward, and you will get to know them and the clinical staff, and you'll feel part of the team. It can be a real challenge working on wards like these, but we also know that our staff find it rewarding.
Main duties of the job:
- Carrying out a range of cleaning tasks in areas such as offices, public areas such as corridors, and patient‑use areas such as shared spaces on wards, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
- Cleaning tasks can include dusting walls, ceilings and curtain rails, dusting and polishing furniture and paintwork, hoovering carpets, and mopping floors.
- Following instructions and a routine work schedule to carry out duties often without supervision.
- Being aware of the patients you will be working alongside and working in a respectful, caring and compassionate manner.
- Using equipment and cleaning products safely, adhering to COSHH rules and regulations.
- Understanding infection prevention and control rules and adhering to them.
- Completing any paperwork such as quality checks and other documentation required.
- Assisting with cleaning audits or other surveys and inspections that take place.
- Participating in any training required and keeping up to date with all company communications.
- Being respectful of others and working in a way that supports equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Demonstrating the company values of caring, compassion, respect, and honesty and transparency in all that you do.
Salary and Benefits:
- Pay: Band A (£12.92 per hour).
- 25% enhancement on hours worked during Saturday and Sunday.

- Ability to lift and move equipment such as trolleys, floor polishing equipment and hoovers.
- Ability to adhere to standards and procedures and to accept and prioritise instructions.

Education and Qualifications:
- Basic levels of literacy and numeracy to follow safety notices and work with cleaning products (essential).
