NTU International is preparing a proposal for the EU-funded project "EU Assistance for the Uzbekistan AgriFood Development Strategy 2020–2030", which aims to support the Government of Uzbekistan in the implementation of a sustainable, market-oriented, inclusive and climate-smart agri-food system. The project focuses on strengthening policy and regulatory frameworks, institutional capacities, and public sector governance in support of the Agri-Food Development Strategy 2020–2030.
The Technical Assistance will support the integration of climate adaptation and climate resilience considerations into agricultural policies, institutional frameworks, natural resource management systems, and sustainable rural development initiatives across Uzbekistan.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support integration of climate adaptation and resilience considerations into agri-food policies, programmes, and institutional frameworks;
- Provide technical assistance on climate-smart agriculture, climate risk management, and adaptation planning;
- Conduct climate vulnerability assessments, adaptation analyses, and resilience assessments related to agriculture and rural development;
- Support development of climate adaptation strategies, operational frameworks, and institutional guidance documents;
- Advise Ministries and public institutions on climate resilience, sustainable land management, and environmental sustainability measures;
- Promote integration of water efficiency, sustainable farming practices, biodiversity protection, and ecosystem resilience into agricultural systems;
- Contribute to preparation of climate analyses, adaptation roadmaps, technical studies, and policy recommendations;
- Coordinate with Ministries, research institutions, environmental agencies, farmers' organisations, and development partners;
- Deliver workshops, technical training, and capacity-building activities related to climate adaptation and climate-smart agriculture;
- Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of climate adaptation and resilience initiatives.
Education:
Master's degree in climate change, environmental sciences, agricultural sciences, natural resource management, rural development, or another relevant field.
General Professional Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in climate adaptation, environmental sustainability, climate-smart agriculture, or natural resource management;
- Proven experience working on agricultural, climate, or rural development projects in developing or transition economies;
- Experience in international development cooperation and donor-funded programmes.
Specific Professional Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or climate-smart agriculture initiatives;
- Demonstrated experience with climate vulnerability assessments, adaptation strategies, or sustainable agricultural systems;
- Experience related to water management, drought resilience, land degradation, or ecosystem restoration is considered an advantage;
- Experience supporting projects financed by the EU, World Bank, IFAD, FAO, GCF, UNDP, ADB, or other international financial institutions is considered a strong asset;
- Experience working with Ministries, environmental agencies, agricultural institutions, or research organisations is considered an advantage;
- Experience in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, or post-Soviet countries is considered an asset.
Languages:
English (C1 mandatory); Working knowledge of Russian is considered a strong asset.
