NTT DATA is currently looking for a DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer remote for our growing team in the UK and rest of Europe.

About the role:

  • We are seeking an experienced DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer to join our DB2 Support Team and provide technical leadership and operational support for a large and complex DB2 for z/OS environment.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for all systems programming aspects of DB2 for z/OS, supporting a large database estate comprising 50+ DB2 subsystems across multiple mainframe platforms and geographies.
  • This role is critical to ensuring the availability, performance, integrity, maintenance, and security of the organization's DB2 infrastructure.
  • You will work closely with application development, infrastructure, operations, and security teams to maintain highly available and secure DB2 environments while supporting strategic database initiatives, performance optimization, disaster recovery planning, and technology upgrades.
  • Plan and execute DB2 version upgrades, migrations, and maintenance implementations.
  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for applications utilizing DB2.
  • Ensure the stability, integrity, availability, and performance of DB2 databases and supporting infrastructure.
  • Support and manage Distributed Data Facility (DDF) and distributed DB2 connectivity.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning recommendations to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Perform system capacity planning and growth forecasting.
  • Implement and manage database security controls and access governance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database and infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborate with application teams to support database design, deployment, and problem resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all database and monitoring solutions are maintained on supported versions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Typically 8 to 15+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe Systems Programming with a strong focus on DB2 for z/OS administration and support.
  • Strong experience in DB2 installation, migration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or other mission-critical enterprise environments preferred.
