The team you will be working with: At NTT DATA, we design data foundations that enable government to operate with clarity, agility and trust. As a Lead Enterprise Data Architect, you will operate as the senior data authority within complex UK Central Government engagements. You will define and lead enterprise-scale data architectures that modernise legacy estates, enable AI-driven insight, and align technology delivery with citizen-focused outcomes.

Balancing digital transformation, platform modernisation and AI enablement, you will shape end-to-end architectures that connect business strategy, service design and technical execution. With deep awareness of GDS Service Standards and the Technology Code of Practice, you will ensure that data architecture underpins secure, scalable and future-ready public services. This is a high-impact, client-facing leadership role — influencing through expertise, credibility and delivery excellence.

What you will be doing:

  • Define and lead enterprise-wide Data Architecture strategies across major Central Government programmes
  • Design and assure end-to-end data architectures spanning business, application, technology and information domains
  • Lead large-scale digital transformation initiatives across departments and arms-length bodies
  • Modernise legacy data estates into secure, cloud-native platforms
  • Enable AI and advanced analytics capabilities, ensuring scalable and governed foundations
  • Join the dots between Business, Technology and Data architectures, ensuring alignment to service outcomes
  • Operate as the senior architectural authority within engagements, providing clarity and direction across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Mentor and develop architects within engagements, strengthening capability and raising architectural standards
  • Ensure alignment with GDS Service Standards and the Technology Code of Practice
  • Provide architectural oversight to minimise technical debt while maintaining delivery pace
  • Engage confidently with senior stakeholders (CIO, CDO, Chief Architect, SRO level)
  • Support strategic bids and pre-sales activities by shaping robust, deliverable Data Architecture approaches

What experience you will bring:

  • Proven experience delivering Enterprise Data Architecture within UK Central Government
  • Strong awareness of GDS Service Standards and the Technology Code of Practice
  • Expertise in defining and implementing end-to-end enterprise data architectures
  • Experience leading transformation across legacy and cloud-based data platforms
  • Strong understanding of modern data ecosystems (AWS/GCP awareness, Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric)
  • Experience enabling AI/ML initiatives through robust data foundations
  • Ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior government stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability to mentor and uplift architects within complex engagements
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting bids and delivery shaping
