The team you'll be working with: As an Associate Commercial Manager you will play a key supporting role in enabling the business to enter into good deals and deliver them well. You will support the development and subsequent translation of the Sector’s strategy into executable commercial structures across sales, contracting and delivery—ensuring deals are competitive, compliant and ultimately deliverable with sustainable profitability. This role supports all our Products and Services Sector Customers.
The role expects you to work closely with sales, delivery and other business SME teams on proposals, pricing, contractual items, negotiations and dealing with contract management issues to ensure commercial decisions are pragmatic, risk-aware and aligned to both Customer outcomes and Sector objectives. You’ll use your knowledge and experience to identify commercial risks and opportunities and devise appropriate mitigations. You’ll coach and/or engage with other teams to enhance the commercial solution.
What you'll be doing:
- Deal Support & Commercial Delivery
- Support the commercial aspects of bids and proposals, helping to shape commercially viable and competitive offers
- Assist in structuring deals so that pricing, contractual risk allocation and delivery assumptions are aligned and executable
- Contribute to the formulation, negotiation and approval of contractual terms, work orders and pricing models
- Support or lead standard negotiations with Customers and suppliers, ensuring appropriate risk flow-down/up
- Commercial Strategy & Deal Making
- Contribute to commercial strategy for new opportunities, including value-led and pragmatic pricing approaches
- Help balance growth ambition with acceptable contractual and financial outcomes
- Support the business in simplifying contractual approaches to improve Customer experience and speed to contract
- Risk & Opportunity Management
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities across deals and in-life contracts
- Support the development of mitigation strategies and ensure risks are understood, quantified and managed
- Contribute to maintaining visibility of commercial exposure, including work-at-risk and contractual dependencies
- Contract & Post-Signature Management
- Provide ongoing support to delivery teams on contract interpretation, change control and issue resolution
- Assist with managing disputes, variations and commercial issues to protect margin and revenue
- Support revenue protection activities including rate card management, payment mechanisms and debt recovery
- Supplier & Governance Management
- Support supplier management activities, ensuring contractual alignment with Customer obligations and regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with key provisions including service levels, data protection and security requirements
- Contribute to consistent application of governance, standards and approval processes
- Ensure compliance with Company policies and processes.
- Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders across Sales, Delivery, Legal, Finance, Suppliers and Customers.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing clear, pragmatic commercial guidance
- Support alignment across functions so that commercial intent translates effectively into operational delivery
- Commercial Excellence & Capability Building
- Support the development and implementation of pricing policies and commercial frameworks
- Contribute to improving commercial consistency, standards and ways of working across the Sector
- Assist in delivering training and guidance to enhance commercial acumen across the business
- Support the implementation of the IP strategy including protection and exploitation of company’s IPR in commercial transactions
What experience you'll bring:
- Experience in a commercial, contracts, bid or deal support role within a technology or services environment.
- Good understanding of the end-to-end deal lifecycle, from bid through to in-life contract management.
- Familiarity with contract structures, pricing mechanisms and commercial risk management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build credibility across functions.
- Commercially astute with the ability to balance risk, value and Customer outcomes.
- Clear, structured thinker with strong attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
