The Senior Director Construction Commercial & Capital Programs (m/f/d) will be responsible for partnering with the investment team that enables external funding of future capital projects. They will be the construction commercial point of contact and responsible for providing critical information such as estimates, cost reports, cashflow statements, sourcing strategies, construction contracts, or other project controls related deliverables. In addition, they will be required to have an in-depth understanding of the construction strategies to effectively communicate and educate external investors to build confidence that GDC has the right strategies in place.
What you will do:
- Serve as the construction commercial authority supporting external funding of GDC capital projects.
- Liaise between investors and construction, know both businesses, translate terms between parties to facilitate the understanding of each.
- Partner with investment and finance teams to support external funding, due diligence, and capital deployment milestones.
- Provide clear, sound construction data including estimates, budgets, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and sourcing strategies.
- Translate complex construction strategies, risks, and cost structures into clear, investor-ready narratives and materials.
- Support due diligence processes by providing accurate, transparent, and sound construction data.
- Act as a senior partner to construction, cost, design, finance, legal, procurement, and investment.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to commercial, project controls, and cost management teams.
- Support governance, risk management, and executive decision-making across the capital portfolio.
- Communicate at the executive level across the organization with emphasis and use of KPI’s/ Metrics.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Controls team members to develop strategic plans and continuous improvement of project deliverables.
- Ensure contracts support funding, insurance, and risk requirements tied to external capital.
- Uphold best practices in ethics, compliance, and financial controls.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Cost Management, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent education and/or relevant experience. MBA is a plus.
- Multiple years of experience with construction cost management responsibilities that may include preconstruction planning, cost management strategies, cost coding structures, commits/spends/forecast processes, reviewing contractor’s cost proposals for major engineering and construction projects.
- Experience with people management and leading a team of commercial construction professionals.
- Must possess a clear understanding of the full construction life cycle with emphasis on commercial strategies.
- Proven capability to manage cost control systems on complex projects through the complete lifecycle.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills beyond estimating practice.
- Capability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to clearly set and lead meetings to develop strong project control systems.
- Ability to be highly confidential.
- Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft Office programs with very strong capabilities in Excel.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical, creative thinking, written and verbal communication skills.
