We are seeking an Optimisation Manager to join our Optimisation & Analytics team within Technical Operations. This is a newly created, senior role reporting to the Director of Optimisation & Analytics, with global responsibility across our data centre portfolio. The position can be based in the UK, the Netherlands or Spain.
As a senior member of the team, you will act as the primary interface between Optimisation & Analytics, Technical Operations and Site Operations, working closely with regional teams and external partners worldwide. You will lead delivery, drive optimisation processes and be accountable for achieving energy efficiency, sustainability and performance targets.
The Optimisation service takes an end‑to‑end, data‑driven approach to optimising data centre assets throughout their lifecycle—from operation and performance improvement to enhancement and end‑of‑life replacement. Your work will directly contribute to reducing operational risk and cost, while increasing resilience, sustainability performance and margin at scale.

Qualifications & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Advanced degree (e.g. MBA) desirable.
- Chartered Engineer status desirable.
- Energy‑related professional certifications (e.g. Energy Institute or equivalent) desirable.
- Support for relevant professional development and certifications may be provided.
Experience
- 5–10 years’ experience in a mission‑critical environment within a large organisation; IT or telecommunications experience preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a technical operations or engineering function.
- Data centre experience or experience in a comparable critical environment is a strong advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical cooling systems, building controls, sub‑metering and energy efficiency highly desirable.
- Proven experience in senior roles within global, multi‑regional organisations.
- Extensive people leadership and team‑building experience.
Other Requirements
- Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Ability to work across global time zones.
- International travel required (approximately 25%).
- Hybrid working model with a reliable remote setup.
- Ability to work primarily during UK business hours.
What you will do
- Identify, develop and implement facility optimisation opportunities, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, equipment performance and overall facility performance.
- Support regional execution teams in the development of business cases for infrastructure optimisation initiatives.
- Motivate, train and enable colleagues and clients in optimisation best practices.
- Promote optimisation activities and provide expert guidance to support the development and standardisation of best practices.
- Deliver full feasibility studies for costed optimisation opportunities and projects, including clear Return on Investment (ROI).
- Support In‑Life Projects, Site Operations and Technical Engineering teams with the implementation of optimisation initiatives.
- Support monitoring and verification (M&V) across the full lifecycle of optimisation opportunities to ensure ROI targets are achieved.
- Monitor and support regional Operations teams in achieving energy, water and fuel efficiency targets.
- Produce regular and ad‑hoc management reports covering all aspects of the optimisation service.
- Provide training and ongoing support to regional teams on optimisation services, where relevant.
- Stay up to date with data centre technologies and industry developments, working closely with suppliers and maintenance partners, and proactively share insights with relevant teams.
