Your role at a glance: The Global Energy Director is responsible for executing a global energy strategy spanning procurement, markets, risk and sustainability for hyperscale data centres, leading multi-country energy budgets and advanced analytics to optimise cost, carbon and resilience. The role owns market participation and regulatory strategy across regions translating net-zero and 24/7 clean energy goals into campus-level roadmaps and reporting frameworks. It leads a high-performing global team across procurement, markets, analytics and regulatory affairs, partnering with development, engineering, operations, sustainability, finance and legal to deliver integrated, commercially robust energy solutions.

What we are looking for

  • Key Responsibilities
    • Energy Strategy: procurement, markets and revenue management
    • Forecast and analyse energy volume requirements, ensuring responsible, data-driven planning to meet operational and business needs across multiple markets.
    • Develop multi-scenario energy plans for each region (short-, medium-, and long-term), evaluating technical, economic, regulatory, and sustainability impacts, and recommending optimum operating and investment models.
    • Develop and implement advanced analytics solutions to accurately predict energy demand, optimise procurement strategies and support data-driven operational decisions.
    • Optimise energy systems for lower operational costs, reduced carbon emissions and improved overall efficiency, leveraging continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Negotiate and manage a broad range of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), virtual PPAs and green certificate structures globally, securing favourable terms that support renewable energy objectives and compliance with sustainability standards.
    • Manage energy procurement across globe with large multi-country budgets including forecasting energy volumes and leveraging analytics to support hedging and risk-managed purchasing.
    • Develop and manage efficient customer billing and revenue management systems, ensuring high levels of accuracy, transparency and timely payments.
    • Analyse and report on key energy metrics, trends and project outcomes, providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Market intelligence and regulatory strategy
    • Monitor and interpret global and regional power market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies that impact data center energy strategies.
    • Shape and execute market participation strategies (e.g., capacity, ancillary services, demand response, flexibility markets) that monetise operational flexibility while protecting mission-critical uptime.
    • Lead engagement with utilities, network operators, regulators, and policy-makers to influence frameworks affecting hyperscale data center energy access, decarbonisation, and system integration.
    • Maintain a structured risk register and scenario framework for commodity risk, regulatory change, and system reliability across all operating geographies.
  • Sustainability and reporting
    • Translate corporate sustainability goals (e.g., net zero, 24/7 clean energy, water and emissions targets) into concrete energy roadmaps and metrics for each region and campus.
    • Ensure robust tracking and reporting of energy performance, emissions, and market participation outcomes for internal stakeholders and external disclosures.
  • Leadership and collaboration
    • Build and lead a high-performing global Energy team, covering strategy, markets, procurement, analytics, and regulatory affairs, with strong regional representation.
    • Foster a collaborative working style across development, design & engineering, operations, sustainability, finance, legal, and commercial teams to deliver integrated solutions.
    • Champion a solutions- and outcomes-focused culture, ensuring all initiatives have clear business cases, measurable benefits, and feedback loops into strategy.
