Your role at a glance

As the Critical Facilities Maintenance (CFM) Lead Engineer, you will report directly to the Critical Facilities Maintenance Manager, managing the shift patterns delivery of Facility Management (FM) services to NTT Global Data Centers and ensuring operational performance and efficiency are maintained to the highest standards. You will provide engineering support and guidance on property matters affecting the ongoing management and development of the data centres, lead the shift engineers, oversee training matrices, coverage, scenario drills, and first‑line response to incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and supervise the site shift engineering team.
  • Work closely with the Critical Facilities Maintenance Manager to ensure services are delivered in accordance with best practice processes and procedures.
  • Manage the Salesforce/MCIM system and ticketing queues.
  • Continuously develop site Emergency Operations Procedures (EOP) and Standard Operations Procedures (SOP).
  • Promote Critical Engineering Best Practices and high standards of Health and Safety.
  • Support the shift engineering teams to ensure correct operation of critical services in the data centres.
  • Proactively evaluate plant and equipment, suggest improvements, and keep site logbook systems current and compliant.
  • Be prepared to work unsociable hours during critical maintenance windows or unforeseen maintenances.
  • Perform any other reasonable duty or request as deemed appropriate by Management.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in facilities, operations or engineering in a data‑center critical environment.
  • 18th Edition certified (or comparable) electrical qualification, ideally electrical test & inspection with LV switching experience (HV an advantage).
  • Demonstrable experience operating and fault‑finding complex and integrated M&E systems including transformers, LV, generators, UPS, electrical distribution, BMS, air conditioning, fire suppression systems.
  • Working knowledge of engineering operations within Mission Critical Environments.
  • Creating and developing SOP and EOP documentation and related processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
  • Strong numerical, literacy and computer literacy skills.
  • Self‑motivated, keen to develop, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to present complex technical problems and resolution options clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Initiative and inquisitive nature, unafraid to ask appropriate questions.
  • Undergo full security checks to BS7858:2019 standard.

Desirable

  • HND or similar in a relevant area (Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services).
  • Comprehensive mechanical engineering understanding LV/HV authorised person.
  • IOSH – Working Safely qualification.
  • L8 Legionella Management.
