Requirements

  • Significant experience designing and delivering complex digital and data solutions in the UK Government or wider Public Sector.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture patterns, public cloud services (Azure, AWS), application design, integration patterns (API, event-driven), and data platforms.
  • Demonstrable success in shaping client strategies, designing operating models, and engaging in business case development and benefit modelling.
  • Experience of bid and pre-sales involvement, including shaping client proposals, contributing to SOWs, and presenting to commercial and technical stakeholders.
  • A sound understanding of government standards and frameworks, including the Digital Service Standard, GDS assessment criteria, NCSC cloud security principles, and relevant assurance models.
  • Experience working in agile delivery environments and collaborating across business and technology domains.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate and advocate for strategic solutions at executive level.
  • Extensive experience in a solution architecture or enterprise architecture role, with demonstrable impact in government or regulated industries.
  • Background in consulting, systems integration, or technology leadership within public sector environments.
  • (Desirable) Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, SAFe, or cloud architect qualifications (Azure/AWS).
  • (Desirable) Understanding of government technology assurance frameworks and legacy modernisation journeys.
  • (Desirable) Degree in a technology-related discipline or equivalent practical experience.

  • We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in shaping and delivering complex technical solutions within Central Government—ideally gained in a consultancy or systems integrator environment.
  • You will be instrumental in driving architectural best practices, supporting pre-sales activity, and leading the design of secure, scalable systems that underpin mission-critical public services.
  • You will have a broad understanding of technology strategy, architecture design, and delivery assurance across cloud platforms, application development, integration, and data.
  • A confident communicator, you’ll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and technical teams alike, producing high-quality artefacts, and presenting architecture decisions clearly and persuasively.
  • You will be used to working in fast-paced, high-trust environments, forming and leading architecture teams, and bringing clarity and structure to complex, ambiguous problems.
  • A solid understanding of secure-by-design principles, government digital standards, and technology assurance is essential.
  • Lead the technical design and architecture of solutions for complex public sector programmes.
  • Define end-to-end architectures that span areas such as cloud platforms, applications, data, security, and integration layers.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure solutions align to business goals, government policies, and technical constraints.
  • Support all phases of delivery, from discovery and alpha through to beta and live, ensuring compliance with GDS Service Standards and technology assurance processes.
  • Drive architectural decision-making, technical governance, and reusability across programmes.
  • Support pre-sales, bids, and client proposals, acting as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing leadership within our technical communities, and contributing to the evolution of our public sector offerings.
