The team you'll be working with: NTT DATA is seeking a Senior Delivery Director responsible for delivering large, complex IT programmes or services end-to-end within the Central Government Sector. Accountable for high-risk, high-value digital/IT delivery. Operates across the full product/service lifecycle. Acts as a senior escalation point and leader within delivery teams. The role carries full accountability for end-to-end programme delivery, financial performance, client satisfaction, and strategic growth across portfolios exceeding ÂŁ50m.
You will operate as a trusted advisor to CXO-level stakeholders, ensuring high-quality, predictable delivery while driving commercial value and long-term partnership growth.
What you'll be doing:
- Strategic Delivery Leadership: Lead large-scale, complex Government technology portfolios (£30m+) with full accountability for delivery performance, governance, quality, and financial outcomes. Oversee multiple concurrent programmes and projects, ensuring alignment to client strategy and contractual commitments. Maintain a proactive, “no surprises” delivery culture with strong forecasting, risk management, and transparent stakeholder reporting.
- Client & Executive Engagement: Build and sustain trusted, senior-level relationships (CXO and Director-level) within Government organisations. Achieve high client satisfaction through consistent, high-quality delivery and strategic partnership. Act as a senior escalation point, resolving complex commercial, operational, and delivery challenges.
- Commercial & Financial Management: Own programme financial performance, including budget control, margin management, forecasting, and cost modelling. Manage contractual obligations across a range of contracting models within public sector frameworks. Support pre-sales and bid activity, ensuring delivery validation, mobilisation readiness, and realistic commercial modelling. Collaborate with Client Partners to identify and drive growth and account expansion opportunities.
- Governance & Assurance: Ensure robust application of project governance, assurance, and reporting frameworks. Implement and monitor KPIs aligned to client outcomes and business objectives. Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, change control, quality, and configuration management. Operate confidently within central government processes, including GDS Service Standards and Technical Code of Practice.
- Leadership & Capability Development: Lead cross-disciplinary, distributed teams across internal service lines and partner ecosystems. Drive high-performance team culture through structured objective setting, feedback, development, and performance management. Secure and mobilise appropriate resources in collaboration with Practices and Service Lines. Foster continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing to deliver measurable benefits for clients and the business.
What experience you'll bring:
- Proven track record of leading complex Government sector programmes and portfolios exceeding ÂŁ50m in value.
- Led large-scale transformation and policy-driven digital services (tax, compliance).
- Extensive experience engaging and influencing CXO-level stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success managing distributed, multi-supplier, and client-side teams.
- Advanced stakeholder management, negotiation, and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Strong commercial acumen, including financial modelling, margin management, and experience across multiple contracting approaches.
- Deep understanding of UK Government procurement and governance frameworks.
- Practical experience with Agile, Scaled Agile, MSP, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and risk with a forward-looking, solution-oriented mindset.
- Must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
