As the Global Mobility Advisor (Immigration Lead), you will act as a subject matter expert in UK and global immigration, overseeing end-to-end mobility processes and supporting international talent movement. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and continuously improve mobility practices.

Immigration & Sponsorship Management

  • Manage UK immigration processes for new hires and inbound expatriates (mainly from India and Japan), including visa applications and extensions.
  • Assign Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) and maintain the Sponsor Management System (SMS), including notifications and compliance updates.
  • Provide expert advice on Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility visa routes, provide cost estimate, allocate costs to business units.
  • Support global visa requirements (e.g. Schengen, Japan business visitor visas, Irish work permits), including issuing invitation letters.
  • Oversee Right to Work checks and monitor visa expiries to ensure full compliance with the sponsor duties according to the Home Office requirements.
  • Manage Japanese and Indian expatriates end-to-end, from onboarding through to repatriation, ensuring local compliance.
  • Administer mobility-related tax processes, including modified PAYE, UK tax returns, P11D filings.
  • Liaise with head office on ongoing expatriate matters and cost recharge.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with HR Business Partners, Finance, Recruitment, and Business Units to resolve sponsorship and mobility-related issues.
  • Collaborate with global and local entities to ensure alignment on mobility strategies and practices.

Policy Development & Compliance

  • Develop and enhance global mobility and sponsorship policies, including onboarding and repatriation processes.
  • Deliver training and guidance to stakeholders on immigration and mobility topics.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and global mobility trends, providing timely updates and recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and oversee invoicing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC Short Term Business Visitor reporting requirements (Appendix 4 & 8).

What you’ll bring;

  • Extensive UK immigration experience, including high-volume case management and hands‑on use of the SMS (assigning CoSs, SMS notifications, compliance activities).
  • Proven experience advising business leaders and HR on complex immigration regulations, risk, and legal compliance (in‑house, consultancy, or legal environment).
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve immigration issues and take ownership in unfamiliar or ambiguous situations.
  • Experience working with offshore service teams, outsourced or third‑party vendors.
  • Track record of developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives within matrixed organisations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt to change and collaborate effectively across all organisational levels in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of accountability, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
  • Strong understanding of UK immigration landscapes, trends, and regulatory environments.

  • Business‑level Japanese language skills (written and spoken).
