Location: UK - London or Birmingham Hybrid Variable
Level: Director
We are seeking a Banking Consulting Director to originate and lead the most consequential transformation engagements in the UK banking market. This is a growth-first leadership role for a senior consultant who builds trusted C-suite relationships, converts them into high-impact work, and shapes the propositions that set our practice apart particularly across payments modernization, regulatory resilience, and the responsible adoption of data and AI.
The Director will own strategic banking relationships end-to-end: opening doors, shaping the agenda, leading delivery, and turning outcomes into the next opportunity. The role combines origination, consulting delivery, practice development, and industry eminence to drive sustainable, profitable growth within the Banking sector.
What you'll be doing;
Client Advisory & Executive Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives across retail, commercial, corporate, digital, and challenger banks.
- Lead strategic discussions on operating model redesign, digital and payments transformation, customer experience, regulatory change, and the practical, governed use of data and AI.
- Facilitate executive workshops and strategic planning sessions that move clients from agenda-setting to decision and action.
- Build and sustain long‑term executive relationships that anchor key client accounts.
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Originate and convert a pipeline of strategic consulting opportunities, opening new relationships, not only delivering scoped work.
- Develop and execute sector growth strategies aligned to the Banking Consulting practice objectives.
- Lead pursuits end-to-end: qualification, proposition shaping, proposal development, and executive close.
- Expand existing accounts into multi‑year transformation partnerships and identify new market opportunities.
- Deliver against an annual portfolio target in consulting revenue, with accountability for margin and pipeline health.
Consulting Delivery Leadership
- Ensure successful delivery across the portfolio: quality, client outcomes, commercial performance, and risk management.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams spanning strategy, business, technology, data, and transformation specialists.
- Guide clients through end-to-end journeys, from strategy and design through implementation and value realization.
- Develop differentiated propositions, methodologies, frameworks, and IP - with a deliberate edge in AI-enabled banking.
- Support recruitment, capability development, and mentoring of consulting talent, raising the bar on delivery quality.
What you'll bring;
- Significant experience (typically 18+ years, or a demonstrated equivalent track record) in management consulting, business consulting, or transformation advisory within the Banking sector.
- Proven origination and account growth with Tier-1 UK banks - opening relationships and converting them to revenue, not only delivering work.
- Credibility advising C-suite stakeholders on business and technology transformation.
- Deep command of UK banking trends, competitive dynamics, and the regulatory landscape.
- Track record leading large‑scale transformation programs and multidisciplinary consulting teams.
- A clear, current point of view on AI and data in banking, and the judgment to deploy it responsibly in a regulated environment.
- Executive Presence and Influence
- Strategic Thinking
- Commercial Acumen
- Consultative Selling
- Relationship Management
- Practice Building
- Thought Leadership
- Team Leadership and Talent Development
- Complex Stakeholder Management
Success Measures
- Consulting revenue and profitability growth across the banking portfolio
- New‑business origination and sales conversion
- Expansion of strategic Banking accounts
- Delivery of measurable, referenceable client outcomes
- Development of new Banking consulting propositions (with an AI-enabled edge)
- Publication of thought leadership and executive‑level industry recognition
- Growth and development of consulting talent
