We are seeking a Senior Desktop Engineer / Architect with deep expertise in financial market data applications and trading systems. This role is responsible for architecting, packaging, deploying, and testing desktop applications in high‑performance trading environments—ensuring seamless delivery, stability, and optimal performance for traders. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with enterprise packaging tools, market data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters), and a strong understanding of the latency‑sensitive nature of trading workloads. Exceptional stakeholder communication and engagement skills are essential, as the role involves close interaction with traders, support teams, and engineering leadership.
What you’ll be doing:
- Package & deploy apps using Intune, SCCM, MSI/InstallShield across physical, VDI, and RDS estates.
- Test & optimize for latency, multi‑monitor/4K, and GPU‑accelerated setups; troubleshoot stability and compatibility.
- Support market‑data apps (Bloomberg, Reuters Eikon, ICE, CQG, proprietary): validate feeds and integrate with trading stacks.
- Collaborate & communicate with traders, support, infra and vendors; set expectations, surface risks, and drive decisions.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for packaging procedures, testing protocols, and troubleshooting guides.
What experience you’ll bring:
- Extensive experience in desktop engineering within financial services or trading environments.
- Expertise in application packaging tools such as SCCM, Intune, MSI, InstallShield, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of market data applications (e.g., Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters Eikon, ICE, CQG) and their integration into trading environments.
- Experience with trading platforms and real‑time data feeds with a focus on low‑latency performance.
- Proficiency in PC hardware troubleshooting and hands‑on skills, as well as experience with installing, updating, and managing system drivers.
- Solid knowledge of driver management, including installation, updating, troubleshooting, and ensuring compatibility across operating systems.
- Knowledge of Windows desktop environments (Windows 10/11), Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Familiarity with virtual desktop environments (VDI) and remote desktop protocols (Citrix HDX, Mechdyne TGX, Teradici PCoIP).
- Basic scripting skills (PowerShell, VBScript, or Python) for automating packaging and testing tasks.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, especially when working with time‑sensitive trading applications.
Great to have:
- Experience in financial trading environments with a focus on real‑time data performance.
- Knowledge of GPU‑accelerated environments (NVIDIA GRID, AMD vGPUs) for optimizing application performance.
- Familiarity with network protocols and latency optimization in trading systems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for application deployment and testing automation.
- IT certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
