Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced People professional to join the UHT People Directorate as a People Risk and Compliance Partner.

The postholder will support the development and delivery of workforce governance, risk management and assurance arrangements across the Group, helping to ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements.

The role will contribute to the management of key assurance frameworks, workforce risks and compliance activities, while supporting projects that strengthen governance, improve employee experience and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The post is based at the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton-on-Tees, with travel required across UHT sites as necessary.

Main duties of the job

The People Risk and Compliance Partner will play a key role in supporting the University Hospitals Tees (UHT) ability to meet statutory, regulatory and NHS workforce standards through effective compliance monitoring, risk identification and governance support. Working closely with the People Risk and Compliance Manager and wider People Directorate, the postholder will provide operational and analytical support to ensure that People processes and documentation meet internal audit, NHS England, Care Quality Commission (CQC) and employment law requirements.

The postholder will support the delivery of assurance mechanisms across areas including the Fit and Proper Person Requirement (FPPR), Board Assurance Framework (BAF), risk management, Freedom of Information (FOI) and regulatory compliance. They will contribute to the development and monitoring of governance and assurance frameworks, support internal and external audits, undertake horizon scanning and help identify learning arising from non-compliance, incidents and risk trends.

The role also involves leading and supporting cross-cutting people projects, preparing reports and committee papers, and working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Group to strengthen governance, reduce organisational risk and embed a culture of compliance, accountability and continuous improvement.
