An exciting opportunity is available for a Specialised Therapy Assistant working in a Paediatric Physiotherapy service. The post holder will be part of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Therapy Services providing high quality rehabilitation to children and young adults.
Main duties of the job:- To assist and work under the direction of the therapist in the implementation of the assessed management plan for child/young adult.
- To assist in carrying out duties assigned to that department including administration duties.
- Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, delivering individual therapy programmes to children and young adults both at home and in their educational setting.
- Undertake any other duties deemed reasonable and appropriate by the Clinical Team Lead/Operational Lead or Service Lead for Paediatric therapy services.
- Deliver pre-set therapy programmes following assessment by a state registered physiotherapist.
- Undertake basic assessment of each patient’s condition prior, during intervention or as a response to any treatment by observing significant changes and accurately reporting these to the primary therapist.
- Have good communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Work unsupervised in children/young adults' homes following prescribed programme of treatment or within educational settings.
- Participate as lead or co-facilitator in group treatments, as directed by qualified therapist.
- Organise and prioritise delegated work tasks and activities, being flexible to the needs of the service as directed by the therapist.
- Provide rehabilitation programmes to children and young adults both in their homes and in educational settings.
- Assist in increasing the functional independence of children and young adults through a range of therapeutic interventions.
- Participate in the training/mentoring of support staff and teachers in schools to support both individual and group therapies/strategies.
- Report and communicate to the therapist and other agencies on any change/difficulties regarding patients' therapeutic programme.
- Liaise appropriately with other disciplines/agencies regarding the rehabilitation plan.
- Maintain a clean therapeutic environment and monitor stock levels of equipment where appropriate.
- Comply with Health & Safety, Fire, CPR, COSHH, and Manual Handling regulations.
- Participate in audit/clinical governance and evidence-based practice.
- High standard of literacy and numeracy - GCSE English and Maths.
- Evidence of further education - NVQ/or equivalent.
- Experience of working with children and delivering therapeutic activities.
- Ability to navigate various IT systems and software packages.
- Valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
