We’re looking for an experienced and driven Transport Manager to join a well-established and growing national business based in Lancaster. This is a fantastic full-time opportunity to play a key leadership role in a fast-paced, professional transport operation.
If you're passionate about logistics, thrive on optimising performance, and have experience with ADR (carriage of dangerous goods) – ideally with a background in tanker or “takers” transport – we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead day-to-day transport operations, including fleet management, route planning, and driver scheduling
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, drivers’ hours, and safety standards
- Drive cost-efficiency, streamline processes, and implement performance improvements
- Oversee vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Motivate and manage a team of professional drivers
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Monitor KPIs and produce reports with actionable insights
- Investigate and resolve vehicle incidents or compliance issues
- Stay current with logistics trends and regulatory changes
- Promote sustainability and safety within the transport function
- Manage budgets and contribute to strategic planning
What We’re Looking For:
- CPC in Road Haulage – essential
- Proven experience as a Transport Manager in a multi-drop logistics or similar setting
- Hands-on experience managing ADR movements – tanker experience is highly desirable
- Strong leadership, planning, and people management skills
