An exciting opportunity is available for a Visiting Medical Officer, Primary Care to join our service at the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network. We are looking for a qualified health care professional with:

  • Current medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Proof of recognition as a specialist by the Specialists Recognition Advisory Committee Award.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in General Practice with knowledge of contemporary clinical management and modern approaches in assessment and management of the broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Previous experience in emergency medicine, general practice, adult internal medicine, or rural medicine is an advantage.

The Visiting Medical Officer is responsible for the provision of general medical services to patients within correctional environments in Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network facilities. This position provides specialist assessment and ongoing care of young people with acute and chronic primary care and adolescent health issues at the Acmena Youth Justice Centre in Grafton. This position will provide a fortnightly clinic session of up to 6 hours a fortnight.
