The Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) is the primary entity for clinical governance and safety assurance across NSW Health. We lead and monitor health system safety by embedding and maturing NSW Health safety system model and strategically partnering with health entities and consumers to foster safe care. The CEC has a system wide leadership role in safety and improvement, with a focus on learning. It provides independent guidance and advice on clinical safety, and responds rapidly when system-wide issues arise.
The Principal Lead, Safety Foundations strategically leads an integrated approach to embedding the practical and relational foundations that amplify the voice for safety of consumers and staff. The role leads a specialised team that integrates across CEC business units and externally with system partners, focusing on the translation of evidence, knowledge and capability development to enhance the organisational conditions, leadership, safety culture and foundational safety behaviours that enable safety at the point of care for staff, patients and carers. The role also supports leadership in CEC's collaborative approach to integration of consumer involvement and human experience stories into the design, delivery, learning and improvement of priority safety initiatives.
