The position is in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Paediatrics.
Responsibilities
- Successful applicants will be primarily responsible for weekly developmental clinic and NICU follow‑up clinic supervision, provision of teaching for JMO staff and students, and supporting the Head of Department with complaints management.
- The position may also be required to assist in any other clinical areas as required within the scope of General Paediatrics.
- Senior Medical Staff are expected to provide admitting consultative diagnostic procedural on‑call outpatient specialty services as determined and required by NBMLHD.
- The number of sessions will be 8 hours per week.
- Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Possess Paediatric Subspecialty Fellowship of the RACP or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (State) Award, and evidence of continuing medical education and self‑monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
- Sound clinical knowledge in paediatrics demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position, including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- Have demonstrated an interest and experience in dealing with paediatric medical management, including added experience in developmental paediatrics.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, administrative experience and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
- Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner, including modelling a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
- Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
Conditions of Appointment
- Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Employees and contractors must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct.
- The position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
- Applicants will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment.
