  • Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2: $135,826.03 - $138,534.10 per annum
  • Nurse/Midwife Practitioner: $143,851.09 - $154,025.92 per annum

About Us

The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Transitional Nurse Practitioner (TNP) to join our Older Persons Community Mental Health team. This senior clinical role offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering advanced, person‑centered care that has a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of older clients and their families. In this position, you will provide comprehensive assessment and management, drawing on your nursing expertise to ensure safe, effective, and evidence‑based practice. Your scope may include initiating diagnostic investigations, prescribing medications, and making direct referrals to other health professionals. Guided by the values and knowledge of the nursing profession, you will contribute to innovative, flexible models of care that enhance and complement existing services. What you will bring to the role:

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA including endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or working towards same as per the NMBA Guidelines on endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner, with evidence of eligibility to attain authorisation within 2 years.
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Mental Health Nursing or relevant clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and advanced clinical nursing skills including comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostics, implementation of treatment modalities and relevant referral skills applied to a broad range of challenging, complex and changing situations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Older Persons Mental Health and ability to lead and implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation, and review of evidence-based research.
  • Proven high level knowledge and expertise in complex patient centred consultancy, practice development activities including mentoring, education, active participation in communities of practice, policy development and quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical leadership role, negotiation, liaison, interpersonal and problem-solving skills across Older Persons Mental Health services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability whilst working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Current Drivers Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
