The predicted salary is between 36000 - 44000 £ per year.

Location – Francis Greenway Correctional Complex, Berkshire Park

Employment type – Ongoing, Full Time

Salary – Snr Correctional Officer Grade - $97,285 pa + Incidental Allowance + Leave Loading + Superannuation

Your role

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Senior Correctional Officer to work within our Fire Safety Environmental Risk Management unit at Windsor (Francis Greenway Correctional Complex).

What you’ll do

  • Provide and record firefighting and fire management training for all levels of CSNSW staff.
  • Supervision of Fire Safety Managers in the development & maintenance of Local Fire Emergency Plans.
  • Oversight of monthly fire safety checklists conducted by Fire Safety Managers.
  • The reporting of unsafe fire safety issues and practices to Senior Officers.
  • Conduct reviews and/or provision of Fire Evacuation Diagrams at designated CSNSW managed facilities.
  • Maintaining a daily log of events and activities with precision and accuracy of relevant details for future dissemination and record keeping.
  • Provide regular written and oral reports to Senior Officers on relevant and pertinent issues relating to the designated area to ensure effective resolution of issues.
  • Provide Fire Safety Awareness Training and Assessment for a wide range of Stakeholders- staff at Custodial Corrections, Community Corrections staff, Justice health Grad Nurses etc.
  • Able to travel on short notice and Statewide travel when required.

About You

You will be part of a dynamic team working in a sensitive correctional centre environment, capable of working as part of a team with flexibility to work across teams within the Infrastructure, Strategy and Governance unit. You will be able to progress areas of work proactively to deliver results and be willing to learn new skills and systems. A unique requirement of this role is to demonstrate broad project management support skills while having specific experience in a human resource context.

What we’re looking for

Qualifications Required:

  • Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or appropriate and relevant custodial experience.
  • Capacity to drive official vehicles and possess an appropriate level of NSW Drivers Licence P2 or higher.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement correctional facility-based Awareness and fire management procedures.

Essential Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels to gain compliance and develop constructive solutions, to brief and train stakeholders, to conduct efficient first response operations and to coordinate people effectively in emergencies.
  • An ability to work as a team, interpret complex situations and provide effective service.
  • Practical experience in responding to emergency with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Desirable Requirements

  • Qualifications and/or experience in delivery training (TAE 40116 or later version) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Drafting Evacuation Diagrams Using Microsoft Visio Programme.
  • Working and or worked as a Fire Safety Manager in Correctional Centre with FSM qualification.
  • Skill, knowledge and experience in fire prevention/protection with demonstrated expertise in the use of fire fighting and safety equipment with demonstrated technical ability to monitor safety, fire detection, emergency warning, suppression systems and equipment, and to develop solutions and resolve problems to achieve compliance with legislation, codes, and standards.
