The role is remote working, based in the UK, with travel to customer sites and team meetings expected as necessary.

Candidates must hold current UK SC Clearance, or be eligible and willing to undergo the SC Clearance process.

As a Technical Architect, you will provide senior architectural leadership to design and guide resilient, secure, and scalable cloud solutions within a multi-year IT resilience improvement programme. You will assess existing technology landscapes, define high- and low-level architecture designs, and shape practical approaches to cloud adoption, disaster recovery, business continuity, technical debt reduction, and application modernisation.

You will work across both infrastructure and application domains, ensuring business-critical platforms and services are designed for resilience, scalability, operational readiness, and long-term business value. Collaboration with programme leadership, engineers, and delivery teams will be essential to define technical workstreams, support engineering execution, and ensure solutions align with cloud-first principles, security best practices, and operational readiness.

The role also involves supporting the assessment, selection, modernisation, and lifecycle management of business-critical applications, including working with application vendors and business stakeholders on complex upgrades and platform changes.

To succeed, you will need strong experience designing enterprise Azure architectures, expertise in cloud and application modernisation and resilience strategies, and excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership skills. Azure architecture certifications are highly desirable, with AWS exposure considered advantageous.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient Azure architectures within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong background assessing legacy technology estates and defining cloud migration, modernisation, resilience, and technical debt reduction strategies.
  • Experience designing and improving high-availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions across infrastructure and business-critical applications.
  • Experience reviewing application architectures and working with business stakeholders and software vendors on application upgrades, migrations, selection, replacement, or modernisation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of secure-by-design principles, Azure governance, identity management, compliance frameworks, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to define architecture deliverables (HLD/LLD), guide engineering teams, and engage effectively with technical, business, and programme stakeholders to support successful delivery.
  • Current UK SC Clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain SC Clearance.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead enterprise-wide Azure cloud transformation and resilience programmes, shaping both infrastructure and application architecture to modernise, stabilise, and future-proof business-critical systems.
