The Enterprise Engineering team are responsible for a variety of services offered to our customers. These include:

  • Bespoke hardware/software developments to provide customers with the ability to better manage their remote site traffic and user experience, as part of an NSSLGlobal solution.
  • Meeting with external customers to design on-board vessel and land networks for fleets and remote sites, including bespoke designs, virtualisation, High Availability, traffic prioritisation, integration into existing infrastructure, and ongoing support.
  • Finding off the shelf products/developing in-house products/system design and integration to best suit the needs of our business and our clients, testing/evaluating updates/releases, and adding them into our Product Portfolio.
  • The design and management of our global VSAT, Starlink, OneWeb, LTE, & PoP infrastructure and Customer networks, including requirements capture, traffic shaping, traffic acceleration, VoIP and systems management.

Key Tasks

  • To act as in-house Product expert on selected systems and application, keeping abreast of new developments in the IT & Communications industry applicable to NSSLGlobal’s markets.
  • To provide accurate and timely technical information or analyses on a variety of engineering investigations.
  • As part of a team to support the design, requirement capture and development of the suite of NSSLGlobal value added services.
  • To produce and maintain detailed technical documentation relating to the new solutions/developments and to work with the Product Management team on ensuring that any new developments are rolled out effectively across the organization.
  • Where required to support the Product Management team and/or the NSSLGlobal Account Managers in dealings with customers on engineering issues, attend meetings and conduct demonstrations in support of Sales.
  • To own, investigate and resolve escalated engineering service issues.
  • If required to participate in a DVB Support Engineer shift rota.
  • Lead by example to develop and maintain personal technical expertise in company bespoke products and security best practice.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Programming/Engineering related area AND/OR at least 3 years equivalent experience.

Mandatory:

  • Analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and independently on your own projects.
  • Ability to diagnose complex faults, document, communicate and follow up corrective actions.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls.
  • Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL).
  • Project planning and delivery experience.
  • Asterisk/VoIP platforms.
  • Windows Server and VMware intermediate level experience.
  • Hardware and/or software systems development and design experience.
  • Programming knowledge – Scripting (Bash, Perl).
  • Working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls and traffic shaping experience.
