We are currently looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join a leading main contractor delivering large-scale data centre and industrial projects across the UK. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team working on technically complex, high-value schemes within a fast-paced and evolving sector.
The Role
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical packages across a range of major projects. This role will be based from the Head Office which is around 20 minutes drive from Heathrow. You will need to be based within a reasonable commute of the office as well as being flexible to travel for client needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed mechanical cost estimates from first principles through to tender stage
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Engage with supply chain partners to obtain and evaluate quotations
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
- Collaborate with design, commercial, and project teams during bid submissions
- Support the development of tender strategies and cost plans
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within construction or MEP contracting
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, ideally within large-scale or complex projects (data centres experience beneficial)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Commercial awareness and strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
