At Childline, we give young people a voice when they need someone to listen. We are there for each child or young person who requires support any day of the year, at any time of day or night. Childline is one service with three core offers for children and young people:
- Childline Universal – available 24/7, focused on children and young people who contact us on a one‑off or irregular basis.
- Childline Connect – available 365 days a year during peak hours, focused on giving those who contact us regularly consistent support.
- Childline Online – an online community where children and young people can access advice, guidance and support 24/7 at their convenience.
We are currently recruiting for 2 full‑time (35 hour) roles in our Childline Universal twilight team in Cardiff.
Responsibilities
- Support our peak service hours and be present for children and young people during late and overnight hours.
- Assist volunteers while they speak to children.
- Respond directly to contacts as a Childline Practitioner (Twilight).
- Lead on key on‑shift safeguarding decisions.
- Provide coaching, feedback, training and support to volunteers during and outside of shifts.
- Ensure every child and young person receives a high‑quality service.
Qualifications
- Strong background working with children and young people within a safeguarding context.
- Believes in our cause and mission, and wishes to help us be there for all children and young people.
- Passion for supporting others, especially in emotionally challenging situations.
Schedule and Benefits
- Hybrid rota with a consistent balance of daytime, twilight and night shifts across a 6‑week pattern, including weekend work one in every three weeks (or one in six weeks for those on 17.5‑hour contracts).
- Built‑in time for extended weekends and the opportunity to work from home on a third of working days.
- 10.5 % rota allowance on top of the basic salary.
