Overview
A vacancy has arisen in the Lamination Technology team at the NSG European Technical Centre. The team are responsible for the development of new laminated products for the architectural and automotive strategic business units, where function, performance and durability are key, and stringent standards and/or customer specifications need to be met. The successful applicant will support current development and capability projects and manufacturing support activities whilst working toward a Degree Apprenticeship at The University of Derby. Responsibilities
- Development and performance testing of a glazing product. This is a hands-on role encompassing product testing where team members develop prototypes in collaboration with suppliers, partners and other business functions.
- Process development and production trials on manufacturing sites will be required, with some opportunities for travel. The successful candidate will have the chance to develop their knowledge of critical technologies for glazing products.
- Responsibility for carrying out and reporting detailed test plans that can last from a few days to years as part of a project team. Specialist instruments and dedicated test equipment will be used routinely (spectrometers, impact testers, climate chambers); full training will be provided.
Qualifications
- A-Level or equivalent
- Fully funded, leading to a Level 6 Materials Science degree from The University of Derby
- Have A Level (or equivalent) qualifications in Maths, Physics or Engineering
- Have 5 GCSE passes including Maths, English and Science
- Can learn quickly and act independently, taking personal responsibility to deliver results
- Are a self-starter who can work under pressure on their own initiative and able to prioritise workloads to achieve deadlines
- Are a careful, thorough individual who pays close attention to detail and possesses good oral and written communication skills
