The Role

To support and report to the Senior Group Finance Business Partner in delivering financial insight, forecasting, contract reporting and commercial analysis across the Group companies, whilst driving efficiencies and encouraging continuous improvement to maximise stakeholder knowledge and visibility.

Key Objectives

Management Reporting & Analysis

  • Review monthly contract and divisional performance reports produced by cost engineers.
  • Help introduce variance analysis against budget and forecast.
  • Support month-end reporting and reporting packs.
  • Maintain dashboards, KPI trackers and management information (supporting the wider finance team

Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Support monthly preparation for forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Consolidate operational inputs and track forecast accuracy.

Contract Financial Management

  • Attend monthly project reviews.
  • Monitor performance against budgets and tender assumptions.
  • Oversee contract risk and opportunity registers as well as managing central contingencies.
  • Escalate significant risks and margin concerns.

Business Partnering

  • Provide day-to-day finance support to operational teams.
  • Attend contract review meetings and track actions.
  • Support budget holders in understanding performance (supporting the wider finance team)

Commercial Support

  • Support tender evaluations and pricing models where instructed.
  • Assist with bid submissions and contract reviews where instructed.
  • Support commercial and client audits.


Person Specification

Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA finalist, part-qualified or equivalent professional qualification - Essential
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills supported by relevant professional study and practical experience. - Essential
  • Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to completing a professional qualification - Essential
  • Knowledge of project controls, cost engineering or earned value principles - Desirable
  • Understanding of project, contract or commercial finance principles - Essential
  • Awareness of forecasting, budgeting and management reporting methodologies - Essential

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in financial analysis, assistant finance business partnering and/or management accounting roles - Essential
  • Experience preparing, reviewing or supporting monthly management accounts and performance reporting - Essential
  • Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting processes within a multi-business or operational environment - Desirable
  • Experience analysing financial performance and identifying trends, risks and opportunities - Essential
  • Experience working with operational stakeholders to improve financial understanding and performance management - Essential
  • Understanding of contract profitability, margin analysis and project financial performance measurement - Essential
  • Experience reviewing variances against budget, forecast and prior performance - Essential
  • Experience consolidating data from multiple sources to support reporting and decision making - Desirable
