Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. The Role
To coordinate, control, and supervise day‑to‑day workshop and site operations in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner, ensuring planned activities are delivered to programme, specification, and quality requirements. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all fabrication, maintenance, refurbishment, installation, and preparation activities are carried out safely and in full compliance with approved RAMS, Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), quality standards, and client requirements, whether operating within the workshop environment or on site. The role requires visible, active supervision, strong safety leadership, and effective coordination of people, equipment, materials, and documentation across both environments.

- Coordinate and control daily workshop and site activities to ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all tasks are undertaken in accordance with approved RAMS and SSoW.
- Set up work areas, plant, tools, lifting arrangements, and access safely.
- Maintain a strong, visible supervisory presence during live work.
- Stop unsafe work immediately and implement corrective actions.

- Implementation of Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
- Ensure RAMS and SSoW are fully understood before work starts.
- Confirm work is carried out strictly to the agreed method.
- Intervene promptly if work deviates from approved controls.

- Pre-job Briefings and Communication
- Deliver clear pre-job briefings, toolbox talks, and task-specific discussions.
- Explain tasks, hazards, risks and controls in a clear and practical manner.
- Verify team understanding and individual responsibilities.
- Ensure a task-appointed operative completes the POWRA prior to commencement.
- Update briefings if conditions, scope, or methods change.
- Day-to-Day Operational Control
- Plan, control, and sequence daily work activities.
- Monitor progress against plan and adjust safely as required.
- Manage interfaces between workshop and site activities where applicable.
- Maintain safe, organised and controlled work environments throughout the shift.
- Liaise with clients and internal teams regarding access, deliveries, and constraints.
- Resource Coordination
- Ensure labour, tools, plant, materials, and equipment are available and suitable.
- Confirm equipment is fit for purpose, in test, and correctly inspected.
- Raise shortages, conflicts, or issues early to prevent delays or unsafe workarounds.
- Ensure tasks are undertaken by appropriately assigned and competent individuals.
- Team Supervision and Performance
- Set clear expectations for safety, quality, behaviour, and productivity.
- Monitor workmanship, attitude, and compliance throughout the shift.
- Address behavioural or performance issues promptly and fairly.
- Provide regular feedback and encouragement.

- Ensure work meets drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Inspect work during execution, not just at completion.
- Prevent defects and rework through early intervention.
- Ensure Quality Release and inspection records are completed prior to goods leaving the workshop or site.
- Progress Reporting
- Track task and programme progress accurately.
- Provide clear, factual updates to management and project teams.
- Escalate delays, changes, and issues promptly.
- Stakeholder Liaison
- Maintain professional communication with clients, site representatives, and visitors.
- Liaise effectively with engineering, QA, safety, logistics, and planning teams.
- Represent the company professionally on site and in the workshop.
- Documentation Control
- Ensure current documentation is available at the point of work.
- Confirm teams are working to the correct revision of RAMS, drawings, and procedures.
- Complete and verify required sign‑offs, permits, inspection, and release documentation.
- Safety Behaviour Monitoring
- Actively observe work behaviours during routine and critical tasks.
- Intervene immediately where unsafe acts or conditions are identified.
- Reinforce positive safety behaviours and good practice.
- Maintain regular presence during live work activities.
- Housekeeping
- Maintain clean, tidy, and organised work areas.
- Ensure access routes, walkways, and workspaces are free from obstruction.
- Challenge poor housekeeping standards immediately.
