Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. The Role
Responsible for ensuring that electrical projects are carried out as efficiently and safely as possible. Responsible for planning and scheduling projects, including estimating the time and materials needed to complete them.
Key Objectives Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete initial electrical site safety report before each job commences.
- Issue permits when required.
- Oversee electricians or electrical subcontractors, issue commissioning engineers permits and assist with commissioning phase.
- Complete electrical site safety audits and electrical completion paperwork.
- Ensure safe working practices and electrical safety rules are followed by electricians on site.
- Design and implement work schedules for the electrical staff.
- Inspecting and assessing the work done by the electrical staff.
- Reading and interpreting design schematics to ensure the proper installation of electrical systems.
- Troubleshooting major system failures and equipment malfunctions.
- Repairing and maintaining electrical equipment.
- Overseeing the purchasing and maintenance of the electrical equipment on-site.
- Ensuring the work is completed on schedule and to code.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work area.
- Consulting with project team members and other workers on-site.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field - Essential
- Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent - Relevant training provided if required
