Working at NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. The Role

To support the commercial and operational activity of NSG Environmental Limited by ensuring the provision and effective completion of human resource activities as directed by the Senior HR Advisor.

Key Objectives

  • HR Support and Advice
    • Provide support to managers and staff on all HR related matters providing timely and accurate HR advice as appropriate.
    • In line with NSG HR Policy, responsible for supporting the timely management of the Employee Relations caseload referring to Senior HR Advisor/HR Manager as required.
    • Provide meeting support, including the preparation and distribution of minutes, as requested by the Senior HR Advisor.
    • Support with delivering inductions to new starters.
  • HR Administration
    • Administration of NSG HR system (People HR).
    • Produce T&Cs and PD&PSs for new starters, promotions and change of roles.
    • Liaise with ESH&Q team to ensure DSE assessments are completed for new starters.
    • Ensure new starter paperwork is completed and processed in line with company procedures.
    • Process all leavers and ensure offboarding processes are completed.
    • Action promptly and accurately all administrative tasks as assigned by the Senior HR Advisor. This may include such elements as: General record keeping, administration and archiving.
    • Establish and maintain individual personnel files for each employee via People HR; ensuring compliance.
    • Time sheet information retrieval.
  • HR Analysis
    • Provide other HR analysis as requested by other managers.
  • Payroll Support
    • Collate and pass on payroll information to the HR Manager.
  • Drug & Alcohol Testing
    • Assist with the coordination and administration of NSG’s internal drug and alcohol testing programme in line with company procedures and client requirements.
  • HR Reviews
    • Support with ensuring HR Reviews and Probation Reviews are carried out in a timely manner.
  • HR Policies and Procedures
    • Adhere to all HR Policies and Procedures; constantly reviewing and suggesting improvements.
  • Auditing
    • Assist in both internal and external audits where appropriate.
  • Recruitment
    • Support the Recruitment Manager from a HR compliance perspective.
    • Administer HR tasks via the NSG Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
    • Contribute to up-to-date position description and person specifications available for issue.
    • Following authorisation, support the issuing of offers of employment with accompanying documentation.
    • Support IR35 Co-ordinator when needed.
    • Support with IR35 administration tasks when needed.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications
    • Educated to A Level or Degree standard - Essential.
    • L5 CIPD qualified or working towards - Essential.
    • Membership of appropriate technical / professional body e.g. CIPD - Essential.
    • Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent - Relevant training will be provided if required.
  • Experience & Knowledge
    • Sound knowledge of current employment legislation - Essential.
    • Experience in supporting resolution of employee relations issue including disciplinary and grievance - Essential.
    • Able to adhere to strict guidelines and time boundaries for reporting information - Essential.
    • Experience of the operation of people management systems - Essential.
    • Coaching and influencing managers to follow HR best practice and procedures - Essential.
    • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - Essential.
    • Familiar with integrated management system operating procedures and requirements etc. - Desirable.
  • Skills & Abilities
    • Competent user of MS Office - Essential.
    • Able to organise and prioritise own work, yet with proven ability to support and work within a team - Essential.
    • Maintenance of database and physical records and files - Essential.
    • Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors - Essential.
    • Preparation and drafting of legally compliant letters, reports etc - Essential.
    • Experience or competence in providing excellent internal customer service in a supportive and helpful manner, both by phone and face-to-face - Essential.
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001 - Desirable.

Package

  • Hours - 37.5 hours per week
  • Overtime – 37.5-60 hours per week – Time and half
  • Overtime – 60+ hours per week or Sundays – Double time
