NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. The Senior EC&I Project Engineer will provide technical knowledge, guidance and support to deliver projects, ensuring that all actions, activities and outputs underpin the integrity, expertise and competency of the company.
Key Objectives- Technical Competency
- Originate EC&I designs to develop effective solutions and subsequently prepare and present these proposals direct to stakeholders and colleagues.
- Support the sub-contractor’s production of EC&I designs.
- Provide project and engineering support to subcontractors, suppliers and clients as appropriate.
- Lead the design development and detailed design activities for:
- Basis of Design
- Control system design
- Control panel design
- Single Line Diagrams
- Block Cable Diagrams
- Cable Calculations
- Electrical Schematics
- Equipment locations
- Instrumentation data sheets
- Equipment lists
- Load schedules
- Substantiation/Justification Reports
- Commissioning documentation
- Working knowledge of relevant standards/codes/directives.
- Experience of working with safety functional requirements in a regulated design environment.
- Production, review and checking of EC&I and project documentation.
- Project Delivery
- Liaise with internal and group company colleagues to provide, but not limited to, the following:
- Originate, prepare and deliver project documentation and engineering design deliverables.
- Provide technical oversight to sub-contract packages of work.
- Attend and contribute to engineering/project meetings.
- Attend and participate in sub-contract/client design reviews.
- Check and review engineering and project deliverables and outputs and provide constructive feedback.
- Bid support.
- Communicate effectively with all members.
- Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (HNC or HND + experience) in an engineering discipline - Essential.
- IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ or formal H & S qualification - Essential.
- NEBOSH - Desirable.
- Experience & Knowledge
- 5 years+ technical experience in a highly regulated industry - Desirable.
- Magnox experience - Desirable.
- Magnox processes and operating procedures - Desirable.
- Detailed knowledge of key EC&I engineering documents and their structure - Essential.
- Preparation and presentation of coherent reports to stakeholders - Essential.
- Familiar with CAD and associated design products and software - Essential.
- Review and checking of engineering documentation - Essential.
- Familiar with radiological protection, its management and operation - Desirable.
- Familiar with recognised legislative requirements - Essential.
- Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - Desirable.
- Familiar with ISO 9001 quality management systems operating procedures and requirements etc. - Essential.
- Skills & Abilities
- Competent user of MS Office (in particular MS Word and Excel) - Essential.
