NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. Key Objectives

The roles and responsibilities which will be expected of you during the execution of your working day are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Inspect and maintain the equipment provided to ensure it is fit and safe for the intended operation.
  • Report any and all defects or suspicious issues to the Line Manager.
  • Responsibly manage the use of materials and consumables, informing the line manager when stocks are low.
  • Maintain your work area in a safe, clean and tidy acceptable environment.
  • Ensure your work area does not impinge on any other person’s safety.
  • Obtain screens and barriers when required to minimise health and safety hazards to other building users.
  • Undertake all operations assigned to you as required including following procedures and processes.
  • An open and honest approach to working must be at the forefront of any discussion and agreement where capability, confidence and understanding is required to minimise repeat work or defects.
  • The use of machinery during the manufacturing process may be required and any training requirements will be provided by the Company prior to commencing operations.
  • Prior to and during any welding operations inspections will be carried out by the resident weld inspector and/or quality engineer.
  • It is incumbent on the operator to ensure quality is maintained at all times to achieve the Company aspirations of “Right First Time”.
  • Any weld and quality concerns raised by the inspectors MUST be rectified as directed as soon as is practicably possible.
  • Due to business requirements additional qualifications may be required which the Company will arrange – full training will be provided by the business following initial discussions between the Company and the Operator, to ascertain if you wish to advance your qualification portfolio.
  • All refreshers and qualifications including welding tests will be managed through the Company’s training matrix with any additional training or practice time will be provided for through normal working times where practical.
  • The Company will make provision for and availability of PPE and working equipment in line with current legislation and legal requirement.
  • The Company will not accept any liability for loss or damage to any personal equipment not provided by the Company which is used to undertake any part of work assigned to the Operator.
  • The Company expects the operator to be able to fulfil the position with a minimal amount of supervision and therefore would expect that the ability to understand and read fabrication drawings can be demonstrated as required.
  • The Company expects the operator to identify elements of business practice which may be improved to assist with improving overall safety, quality and environmental impacts both to personnel and the environment.
  • The Company operates an open door policy which enables any discussion to be instigated to ensure all parts of the business function as a coherent team, please use this facility if you feel aggrieved about any aspect of your employment.

>
