NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others.
This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role
To competently perform the duties of a qualified technician as part of a team engaged in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, testing and trials of all types of systems and equipment as instructed by Project Manager / Supervisor / Project Engineer, in accordance with relevant drawings and Safe Systems of Work.
Perform technician tasks encountered in activities such as:
Project Delivery and Operational Support
- Operations (including testing and trials)
- Maintenance and repair
- Carry out support installation, modification, EMIT (examination, maintenance, inspection & test), decommissioning tasks as required
- Work from schematics / diagrams / drawings to install equipment
- Install systems and equipment in such a way as to comply with any relevant regulatory or legislative requirements
- Complete and maintain as necessary all associated records and documentation

Qualifications
- Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training- Essential
- City and Guilds Level 3 certification in Electrical Engineering- Essential
- IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Qualification- Essential
- Previous experience of NRS (Magnox) Site- Desirable
- Test & inspection Qualification; City 7 Guilds 2391- Desirable
- GCSE at \’C\’ grade or above inEnglish, Maths and in science or technical subject- Desirable
- Membership of appropriate technical / professional body- Desirable
- CSCS card for the relevant trade- Desirable
- Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent- Desirable (Relevant Training will be provided)
Experience & Knowledge
- Familiar with site / factory work environments- Essential
- Fully conversant with IEE Regulations- Essential
- Work experience within engineering, science or construction environment- Essential
- Familiar with working on nuclear licensed site or similar with specific hazards/operations- Essential
- Work experience within engineering, science or construction environment- Essential
- Familiar with AWE electrical procedures- Desirable
- Appointment as AWE NP(E)- Desirable
Skills & Abilities
- Able to demonstrate the understanding, interpretation and application of electrical drawings and specifications- Essential

Package
Basic Salary £44,290 pa – 37.5 hours per week
Overtime – 37.5-60hours per week – Time and half
Overtime – 60+ hours per week or Sundays – Double time
Life Assurance 3x Salary
Subsistence allowance paid for working away (50+ miles away from home location) – £200pw lodge (£50pd, 4 days max) + £25pd Food
Pension – Company contributes 5% Individual contributes 4%
Discretionary bonus
187.5 hours per year holiday allowance
