The Role
To provide a comprehensive and effective cost control and reporting service. To provide cost management, oversight and reporting service for the contract to enable the effective management of expenditure and provide oversight of the budget. Manage the timely collection of data to support on-going budget control and forecasting. To safely provide cost control management support to the Project Manager in delivering successful projects, product or integrated solutions to time, scope in a cost-effective way.
Key Objectives
- Cost Management Project Controls
- To comply with project controls procedures, processes and systems to ensure that quality and consistency of data is maintained.
- To contribute to improving the quality and performance of cost control processes and systems.
- To assist in the preparation of Change Control procedures, and subsequent implementation.
- To work closely with the Planning Engineering to ensure costings for project plans are accurate.
- To assist in the keeping of records for change control, trends and the maintenance of trend/change log.
- Assist the Project Team in the day to day management of Project Control activities.
- To be responsible for monthly and ad hoc reporting on behalf of the Project Team and/or Head of Cost Engineering and Estimating.
- To perform any other Project Control duties as and when required by the Project Manager and/or Director.
- Project Cost Management
- To interrogate the Business System to ascertain the actual expenditure against critical areas, and provide entries for accruals where needed.
- To be responsible for the preparation of monthly cost reports, identifying critical areas, and providing trend analysis and early warning to the Project Team and/or Project Services Function.
- Ensure budgets are controlled within authorised funding limits and in accordance with financial procedures.
- Monitor trends monthly, provide analysis to the Project Team and invoke the project change control invoked procedure where required.
- Project Reviews
- To assist in the preparation of on-going project reviews and provide advice on corrective actions.
- To identify variances and develop the appropriate mitigation strategies for recommendation to the Project Team.
- Technical Competency and Development
- Actively participate in continuous improvement of the company, department, personnel and self.
- Formulate and manage own personal training plan and development activity with the Project Manager.
