The Role
To provide Requirements Engineering expertise to AWE programmes; working closely with, and advising appropriately, the Project Manager or Engineering Task Manager, to ensure that Systems Engineering methods, tools and processes are used to best effect for requirements capture.

Project Requirements
- Planning and execution of tasks in order to deliver specific agreed objectives; demonstrating control of cost, quality and timeliness of engineering output.
- Lead and influence collaborative working and contribute towards the achievement of project goals.
- Provide mentorship and supervision of staff working in systems engineering.
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
Technical Competency
- DV cleared DOORS practitioner with 5 years commercial and 5 years government experience.
- Able to write Use cases.
- Elicit, analyse and translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements.
- Undertake requirements derivation, architecture development and system simulation.
- Undertake modelling and simulation to explore problem space and potential system solutions.
- Undertake requirements verification and validation and support technology teamsβ derivation of verification and validation events, test cases, test plans and test specifications, to support integration activities.
- Manage and develop long term plans in support of life-cycle phases using Systems Engineering best practice (INCOSE).
- Support process capture, implementation and improvements for integrating the sub-systems.
- Support project reviews for internal programmes and external contracts, including providing written reports and verbal briefs to management and stakeholders.
- Maintain and promote awareness of Systems Engineering best practice and wider systems issues.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in engineering supported by practical experience or equivalent β Essential
- Membership of appropriate technical / professional body β Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent β Relevant training will be provided if required
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience of applied abstract modelling techniques in support of lifecycle processes (e.g. Use Cases, Context Diagrams, etc.) β Essential
- Experience of system design and specification including interface design and specification. β Essential
- Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry β Essential
- Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG β Desirable
- Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information β Desirable
- Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc β Desirable
Skills & Abilities
- Competent user of MS Office β Essential
- Well organised with the ability to work to timescales and demonstrate attention to detail β Essential
- Ability to grasp new and abstract concepts and ideas quickly β Essential
- Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation and information in support of project delivery β Essential
- Ability to interpret and evaluate technical data β Essential
